Compatability woes

Long story short, all the components for my system i am going together have finally arrived and soi set about building it.

I've instantly hit upon a problem with my CPU cooler, it's the Be quiet! Dark Rock TF and though it is compatible with my Mobo ( An X99M GA 5) from gigabyte

the mounting mechanism simply doesn't work...the spaced screws ( with a sort of nut in-between two different thread sizes) fits onto the mounting point on the motherboard.... but the wrong way, the manual clearly

says too put it so the larger ( as in physically larger not the thread itself) end fgoes into the motherbaord ILM plate thing and the thinner side goes up to secure onto the mounting bracket. However it seems to only

work the other way around, not compatible or am i just being stupid? Any thoughts and help would be much appreciated. Thanks

The cooler is compatible with your MB, no problems there. (http://www.bequiet.com/en/motherboardcheck)

 

Are you sure that you are mounting the cooler correctly? Double check the manual, maybe you are doing it right.

Just figured it out a few hours ago thanks! Had a bit of a lightbuib moment.

The issue was caused quite simply because the instructions were awful and added a step that wasn't even necessary...
