Hello guys,

This is what's happening:

1. Turn on the PC, when it's time for the BIOS to detect Hard Drives, the HD light stays FULLY ON for about 2 minutes and then finally recognizes the SSD.

2. A black screen with a  "_" symbol appears at it gets stuck there, until it gives up and goes to the BIOS setup.

The Hardware:

SSD: Samsung EVO 850 250GB

MOBO: Asus Maximuns Hero VII

PSU: Corsair TX650M

What happened before the problem:

I upgraded the Nvidia Video Driver using GeForce Experience and it gave me some errors after finishing that it couldn't access some file in the SysWOW 64 folder.

Other things that happened:

I traveled one day and I brough the SSD with me, inside an anti-static plastic.

When I  put the SSD back in my computer again, it said that it wasn't able to load the winload.exe file and that I had to repair the windows instalations. I disconnected my 1.5TB HD and the message went away and the system boot up like nothing happened.

Once in a while, when I reboot my PC, it says that again and I have to do the same procedure.

Things that I've tried:

Unplugged everything except the SSD.

Changed the Sata power connector to a different one.

Changed the Sata port that it's connected to the motherboard

Changed the Sata Cable.

Pressed the ClearCMOS button and loaded the optimized default values of the BIOS.

Tried to use a bootable Windows Media to reinstall windows: "No Storage Device Detected"

It looks like my SSD died, or it's frozen for some reason.

I don't have any other PC to test it, only a laptop.

Please help, I need suggestions on what could have caused this and what I can try,

I'm going to guess that the SSD died on you.

What if I try a Secure Erase? Do you think that if it's no dead, it can work?

You can try. it sounds weird that you are getting intermittent power to the SSD. I would try a secure erase but if the computer doesn't know the SSD exists some of the time it doesn't sound promising to me.

The Bios recognizes the SSD all the times, but it takes forever.

The Windows Instalation that doesn't.

I'm gonna see if I have other options, because I really don't want to give up on the data I have there yet.

Hmm it could be the SSD needs refreshed with Windows. What version of windows?

Windows 10 Pro x64

I just installed windows on the other Hard Drive, but every time I connect the SSD, it slows down the boot immensely, it takes about 1 minute to get out of the boot screen (becase that's how long it takes for the motherboard to recognize the SSD) and when the Windows is loading, even booting through the Windows installed in the other HD, it takes forever, and never loads, and the HD light is 100% on all the time.

The SSD is behaving like it got reeeaaally slow, it's like when you have a scratched CD on your CD player, and the computer doesn't boot because it keeps trying to read the CD.

Have you checked to make sure your BIOS is fully updated? I doubt that is the problem but its worth a shot. It sounds to me like the interface in the SSD is not communicating properly.

My BIOS is not updated, but I'm kinda afraid to update it, since many things can go wrong.

This weekend I'm gonna travel to my other place and there I have another PC, so I'm gonna test it using another motherboard to see if the problem is the motherboard + ssd.

Thank you for your replies.

Youre welcome. You should be cautious when doing BIOS upgrade but a lot of times that could be the main problem that was fixed with some boards. its worth a shot honestly. It also ads functionality that you may not see but REALLY HELPS. I would suggest it.

Feel free to update us on your progress!
