well here are the results:

I picked up a certified refurbished Alienware 14 r1 from dell at $780 (plus tax free shipping). The specs are

1tb 5400rpm

1080p screen

it retailed at around $1800, im pretty happy with my find.

Other than the GPU should be a good laptop. I do have to say I have seen that model in here at work about 3 times this year... All had bad motherboards.

What do you mean by bad? Like you expected more quality in them for the price or? Sorry, misunderstand you.

No problem but ya you would expect better quality for a laptop like that. We had a guy bring one in and I loved how different of a laptop it really was but we went through multiple motherboards trying to get it to work properly only to learn they all had defective GPU fan sensors (this meant the GPU fan never turned on and the laptop would cook itself unless monitored) I would say your most likely fine but if it is possible return it if you want. You can get something much better for the price cause in the case of Alianware your just paying for looks, Dells actual department such as the Latitude line is VERY good IMO or even that inspiron someone posted earlier :) Sorry for the "bumming" comment but after what this guy went through who brought it in I dont think I can recommend an Alianware anytime soon nore do I want to see people experience that again either.
