I have a work pc I've been using for around 4-5 years now and today I ran to problem I can't quite wrap my head around. On startup everything works fine run up perfectly but once I pass the windows logo and actually enter windows the system freezes, I can open any program or task manager and I get "windows explorer has stop responding". I've disable all startup applications in while in safe mode and atm I am testing if it is a bad RAM stick or not

I have not, also wouldn't running a malware scan in safe mode might not show up some malware which might be causing it because not everything is loaded?

Malware scan doesn't require everything to loaded. As long they are on your disk that is the main thing.
