So I loaded my PC up for my regular World Of Tanks gameplay, as I loaded in the game changed to 800x600 res...It sometimes does this, I honestly do not know why, So I went into the in-game settings changed back to my normal res 1824x1026 and went into a match.

Apon entering the match I had  5-10 FPS... I usually play around 40 FPS with the settings on mid to low because of the crappy processor I'm running (AMD Phenom x4 840). I have a GTX 960 as my GPU and full specs of the PC down below.

I have restarted the PC and the issue remains.

I know my CPU is bottle-necking my GPU. However I have been gaming for around 2-3 months with this set up getting 30-40 FPS, I come back to the game this morning and can not climb above 15.

WOT is mostly a single CPU core game. So my CPU 1 is running at 100% flat chat, and the others are sitting around 50-60% utilization giving me a overall 60% utilization of the CPU which is normal, And this used to wield MUCH better FPS....what changed and how can I fix the issue. Any advice would be off real use.

New development, The CPU even after restarting the PC for a second time, At Idle is using 50%... Why would this happen overnight? PC was running fine one day the next it looks like the CPU is dying..

did you happen to install a program at any time between the last time you played and today? also go into task manager and see what's eating up your CPU usage.

Only program that might fit that time frame is iTunnes.. Just got gifted a Iphone so I had to download that crap onto my PC. Of course I got it directly from the proper website.

However its not open, and the task manager say's The system is using around 30-40% of the CPU... and the last 10% is made up of other programs..

Would reverting back to a back up of my PC fix the issue? If its some sort of malware that is pretending to be the System using up the CPU?

try removing iTunes and see if that's the problem, if it doesn't reinstall an I'm not sure what to tell you after this at this time.

I removed Itunnes, And restarted the PC for good measure. No effect, Still using around 40% of the CPU capabilities on the System... I might try and revert to a back up around a week ago and see if that fixes the issue

Alright, let us know if it works

Nope. System is still using 30-40% of the CPU. I honestly don't know what is causing the issue. It does seem better, I'm now hovering around 20-25 FPS in games...But it's not "fixed". Just better.

Win 10 isn't using DirX 12 as no games are yet. The installation of DirX12 in Win10 is backward compatable so it will allow any prior release. This will tell you if it's installed ok:

Press Windows+X keys

choose "run"

type and enter

dxdiag

What 'process' / program is using the cpu so much.?

Seen in task manager in the process tab, you can right click it and goto file location if it helps figuring it out.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

It was "System" File location is the System 32 folder in Windows.

However weirdly enough I just got back home from work rebooted the PC and hey presto, CPU usage is back down to under 10% when Idle...I have no idea what fixed it to be honest, Im just happy its fixed. But now I'm worried if it will ever come back and I have no idea what the fix was:P Anyway. Lets just pray it stays fine.

Thanks everyone for your help anyway, Love being apart of this forum.
