hi guys, i dont know whats wrong with my motherboard but i tried screwing it in 3 times, still same result. what happens is the top pci slot is a bit too far for the io of my network card to reach, therefore i need to lift the right side of the card up a bit so i can screw the screw in the case. got a picture below to clarify whats going on. I need to slightly (very slightly, a slight bump up) with my 1st gpu slot, but its fine for my 2nd gpu slot (x16 pci slots). Am i just doing it wrong?

you could be damaging the pci-e (i guess that's what you meant by gpu slot) fingers on your card. i don't think you are damaging your board, but what you should do is get the exact measures of the specific slot, and figure out if its your card that's not well built or your mobo, you could eventually rma if it's really problematic.

how high of a chance is this "could be damaging the fingers on my card"? and if it does, does it instantly die? or does it reduce lifeline of the card?

not a very high chance, but try not applying too much force on it... if it does damage it will most likely not die, you could not even notice, or get weird things from your card, like it not working as well as it should.if it works right now, if you dont move it, just dont touch it, it wont break just sitting there!

Just put it in the PCIe slot, doesn't have to screw in. A NIC is not heavy.

i also have to do this a little bit for the 1st graphics cards as well, think of it applying as much pressure as taking off the locks of the pcie slot when u take a graphisc card out, but the pcb gold fingers part at the bottom only coming out a few millimeters. just need to be safe D: otherwise ill take all my stuff out and try again, which is rather annoying haha

I don't know because I do the motherboard properly- do you really want to find out? Just re-seat the motherboard properly.
