Gigabyte R9 290X 4GB for $351 CAD Refurbished Worth it? or should I wait?

My specs are:

 

Case Corsair 250D mitx

CPU i5 4690k
MOBO: Asus Maximus VI Impact  

SSD intel 250G/HDD 1TB

RAM 8gb Corsair (got off a friend)
GPU xfx HD 6870 1gb (borrowing off a friend till I get one)

The 390 brand new starts at less than that and it has close enough performance (sits in between the 290 and 290x) but well it's brand new, not refurb

Forgot to clarify though... $351 CAD not USD.
ATM the Canadian dollar is significantly lower than that of USD... and its affecting the prices of GPU's quite drastically.  

 

Average price for a GTX 970 is around $400 CAD.

So the r9 290x will be $50 cheaper... not sure if its worth it to spend $50 more and get a new $970?

Still not sure what to go with.
