Old pentium laptop

my friends old laptop takes 5-10 minutes to turn on. It is a Compaq laptop with 3gb Rams and a pentium t4500@2.3ghz, Windows 10. What should I do to make it not so slow?

clean the HDD out to free some space up and run Auslogics Disk Defrag over (set it to optimise drive), or get an SSD, 4GB Ram (2x2) to get rid of the mix and match it will have now

I don't think I can upgrade to ssd or more ram since it is a prebuilt laptop. It is weird it has 3 gb or memory at least that's what task manager says

uhh.. you can upgrade laptops..

if it's a 32 bit OS it won't see any more than 3.5GB actually, even though it can physically address 4gb

We need the exact model number to be sure, but there's typical a panel on the bottom held on by one or two screws to access the memory.
