Hi!

Since I just so happen to have a Intel 730 SERIES 2.5-Inch 240 GB Internal SSD around, I'm thinking of upgrading my laptop's HDD (120GB Seagate ST9120822AS (SATA)) to this one. Is it true that all I do is to use some software to copy the data on my HDD to the SSD first, and then physically replace the HDD with the SSD? Or is there something else I'm missing? For the copying part, do I need to have another copy on a floppy disc first? And will the OS also be copied? Please help.

Also, do you recommend any of those copying software? Thank you!

yes, there's a piece of software called acronis true image 2014 which allot of ssd's come with, if you get a sata to usb cable and then use the software to clone everything to the ssd you can then simply open the laptop up and replace it, there are also other alternatives to acronis if you don't feel like paying for it but acronis is the most trusted

so you don't have to spend £80 on a new copy of windows, not to mention other documents

You don't have to spend anything on a new copy of windows.

Windows 10 gives you a perfect opportunity to do a clean install of windows.

All you need to do is update to w10 then replace the hard drive and do a fresh install without any keys, the copy will activate itself.

I did that myself.

Documents can easily be saved on a flash drive.
