Installing Hackintosh

Go to solution Solved by The Official Czex,

You're sure? Do I need to create a "simple volume" through Windows or just leave it "un-allocated"?

Format the partition as GPT and simple volume.

I asked this earlier but nobody responded so excuse me for re-posting but I really need help with this.

I have a 1TB Seagate HDD but it has Windows 10 on it and all my files. Hackintosh guides say that you need an empty drive otherwise it wont work which is understandable. Is it possible that I can partition and allocate say 60GB of my 1TB for Hackintosh? Will it recognize it as a separate drive?

Also, upon installation from what I've seen it asked you how many partitions you want to make and what size. If I didn't go with option 1 and just proceeded through with it, could I just install it by allocating the 60GB there? Or would it just delete some files?

Basically overall I need Yosemite running with USB, Sound, Graphics, and Network working 100%. I need it to be fast and work perfectly.

Thanks in advance.

Didn't I tell you in the last thread you made about this? Check it.

I did, it doesn't tell me the answer to my question though.

I have 1TB, I want to allocate 60GB of it for Hackintosh. Will this work or not?

Yes. In the Hackintosh site it tells you how much to allocate. 60 GB is plenty.

EDIT: 8 GB is minimum for a full install. 60 is way more than enough. You'll be fine. Also, if someone doesn't answer your question the first time, just quote them to let them know you still need their help.

I know but I'm sorry to keep bothering you but I don't understand it and it seems really complicated. I've never done this before.

So to clarify:

1. I need like an 8GB USB to store the application for Yosemite on.

2. I use that USB to install Yosemite on the 60GB allocation out of my 1 Seagate 1TB drive.

3. I launch it from that drive?

4. Two boot options will now be available when I start my PC?

Sorry I'm really new to this.

Also will my graphics card and stuff work with it? Intel and Nvidia so I know they are compatible but like will it run fast?

Yeah but what I'm trying to say is I don't have an empty hard drive or SSD which they say you "need." So I'm really confused on how it works and if I can just use my partition.

Pretty much that. There are specific guides that can better explain it. You'll need to install new drivers as well.

  1. To access BIOS/UEFI Setup, press and hold Delete on a USB Keyboard while the system is booting up.
  2. Load Optimized Defaults before doing anything else.
  3. If your CPU supports VT-d, find the setting and disable it.
  4. If your system has CFG-Lockfind the setting and disable it.
  5. If your system has Secure Boot Modefind the setting and disable it.
  6. Set OS Type to Other OS, if applicable.
  7. Save and exit. Your machine should reboot.

Use UniBeast for the actual install. http://www.tonymacx86.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=3

  1. Open the Mac App Store on your borrowed Mac and download OS X Yosemite. Make sure it appears in /Applications.
  2. Insert your 8GB+ USB drive and open /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
  3. Highlight the USB drive in the left column and click on the Partition tab. Click Current and choose "1 partition".
  4. Click Options and choose "Master Boot Record".
  5. Under Format choose "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".
  6. When it's finished, close Disk Utility and run UniBeast.
  7. Follow the wizard on screen, choosing your USB drive when prompted, and selecting Yosemite when asked what version of OS X you are installing.
  8. Finish clicking through the wizard to create your USB drive. This should take about 10-15 minutes.
  9. Drag MultiBeast to your new flash drive so you have it for later.
  10. Insert your new installer flash drive into your soon-to-be hackintosh. Boot up the system and press the hotkey to choose a boot device (usually F12 or F8). Choose your flash drive when prompted.
  11. At the Chimera boot screen, choose USB and press Enter. If you have trouble reaching the installer, check out step 4 on this page for more information.
  12. Choose your language on the welcome screen, then head to Utilities > Disk Utility.
  13. Highlight the hard drive you want to use for OS X in the left column, click the Partition tab, then choose "1 partition" in the dropdown menu.
  14. Click the Options button and select "GUID Partition Method".
  15. Give your drive a name, choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) from the Format dropdown, then click Apply and Partition. Close Disk Utility when the process is finished.
  16. Go through the rest of the installation wizard to complete the process.

Yeah I need it because there is no way to use Xcode on Windows and a virtual box wont cut it. I need to utilize 4 cores at least for it to be as smooth as I want it. Plus if I can use my GPU I'm sure that would help a lot too.

Oh, yeah. I just used it to keep my copy of Ableton until I realized that Ableton was cross-platform...  :P

Just a question, when shrinking the volume of my current drive and creating a new simple volume of the unallocated 60GB. The only options coming up are NTFS and some other thing no GPT option. What is this? How do I create a volume for GPT?

EDIT: I see the option under the entire Disk 0 which shows its already GPT because its greyed out. Does that mean I just create a new simple volume for NTFS and it will be recognized when installing Yosemite?
