msi bios?

Hi guys, this is my first computer build and I'm stuck on the bios, I have an msi gaming 5 motherboard. All i need to change is the boot priorities to the cd drive to boot windows 7, but i am confused, a lot of stuff has a little u on them (UEFI). do the u's go first or the drives without.

And also I want to boot windows 7 off my ssd so in what order should the other drives be?

thanks

ODD (u) -> ODD -> USB (u) -> USB -> SSD (u)-> SSD -> HDD -> etc. is what I go with (ODD and USB are before the actual boot drive in case I want to boot off of a CD/DVD or USB stick)

I haven't seen any difference between having the "u" ones in front of the normal icons (although I have them set up)

it just better version of BIOS with Mouse and Ethernet works out of the box (and probably all other input/output)

I don't know why you confuse that much, every list is about the same as Bios (if not better), like CD Drive, SSD and HDD now listed as each devices if you plug it

and if you want to boot from USB it will display the items that you want to boot from to.

You should be fine with the boot order you have

boot order has nothing to do with which drive you install it on. You select your SSD from the installer

if you already installed OS into SSD then yes.

not necessary if you already put the list in order

just unplug the usb drive or remove os disk from odd you'll good to go.

some motherboard had problems with USB devices so it will insist booting from it even if the drive doesn't have any bootable os/software

usually fix with updating bios, it's quite rare nowdays but if it happens, reset your machine and switch the order back on uefi menu.

also the point setting the OS to first to boot is because old bios spend more time to check other peripheral to boot. not big deal but that extra second might critical for some people specially if the system still using HDD.
