What I want to build:

I am looking to buid a HTPC / Backup system for my home computers.

My question:

Do you think this build will work out, and are there any faults in it?

I know it has two purposes, but I honestly don't stream a lot at one time. My house has 2 desktop computers plugged via ethernet and with this NAS, it will have 3.

What I currently own:

I currently own 4 x 2 TB drives. 2 of the drives are in my own computer and are in Raid 1 through Windows' Raid system. These drives are backing up my photos, and other files.

The other two drives are just sitting there are media storage for movies, music, etc. These 2 drives are not in raid because if they crash, oh well, they're just movies, and music.

Looking to add to what I currently have

I am looking to add another 2 x 2TB drives because my back up drives are almost full.

And I want to have the possibility of adding even more drives if necessary in the future.

I am going to get a gigabit switch because I currently do not have one.

How I want it to look:

Drive 1: Photos, etc (raid 1)

Drive 2: Photos, etc (raid 1)

Drive 3: Back up other computers (raid 1)

Drive 4: Back up other computers (raid 1)

Drive 5: Movies

Drive 6: Movies
