Fan ring painting

So, im gonna paint my fan rings from my af120's (again) but im wondering. Will the result of the painting look different from painting on a blue ring to a white ring?

Depends on the paint. Plastidip should do fine.

The colored rings are actually made of plastic of that color but if you use matte type spray paint or plasti-dip it will give a very similar effect.

Ive tried plastidip. Didnt work out well. I have bought some normal orange spraypaint instead

Im using something a bit glossy while still being a little matte. The paint is orange, will it affect the result, between using the blue or white ring?

It wouldn't really make a difference with good quality paint, white might require fewer coats, I think I remember you mentioning this where the plasti-dip etched into the old rings and wasn't very durable. 

 

I'd probably want to roughen up the surfaces first before painting to ensure good adhesion or apply a primer, I have a writeup that goes over it more in depth under General Painting:

Oh that Montana's stuff is really good, very heavy on the pigment so two coats at most and you should be good

Thats good, so I can also use the blue rings, but maybe just with an extra coat?

If it was bad paint maybe a extra coat but shouldn't really be a big difference with whichever ring you paint with the stuff you got.

Thank You so Much, now my next project is to get some rings! the blue ones i painted with the orange plastidip was the last ones i had
