i7 3770 Temps

Muz

Okay so, I've been getting 80-90c temps while playing GTA5 and 80ish on other games, and it idles at 60ish. I have no idea what it's so hot, I tried putting another fan on my rad but to no success, it didn't change a thing. I just got some premium thermal paste when my new case fans came in today and I'll try put that on when I get the time but I'm completely confused to why it's running so damn hot.

Can someone give me a suggestion to the best config with a single rad w/ 2 fans and to why it's running so scarily hot?

Put the pump around 70% and fans shouldn't need more than 40% give or take.

When it comes to a radiator it really doesnt make any difference of config on fans...I assume you are using an H100 or something similar? if you have a good mount and the fans are running just fine, i might think your pump is either A) not receiving full power and causing bad flowrates resulting in poor performance. or B ) the pump is bad or going bad. There is a very slight chance there could be an air bubble in your block causing the temps to be high, but with an AIO that really isnt a huge issue.

I'm using a CoolerMaster Seidon 120V because it was on sale cheap as. It's mainly when I touch the area of my case my rad is it, it's blistering hot (It's mounted in the top)

The pump on the aio could be going out, or the thermal paste has dried out.

Your radiator will put out a lot of heat to your case (frame where the rad is mounted) and air outside of the case as it is transferring more heat from the CPU to the air...but its blowing out super hot air your CPU should have lower temps. idle temps shouldnt be anywhere close to 60C honestly.... Is this a whole new build or did you have another cooler on your CPU before? If you did and your temps were fine I would point your finger at the Seidon your running right now.

Well, I was running a stock cooler previously.

As you have new thermal paste available, I'd suggest cleaning the old stuff off and making sure you don't have too much on there when you reapply it - as too much thermal paste is as bad as not enough. And make sure the plate on the AIO is making firm and even contact with the CPU heat plate.

Just as an FYI .. I have a 3770K in a custom loop and max out at high 60s @ 4.3GHz. Interestingly though at 4.4GHz with no extra voltage it is still stable but gets very close to 90c :(
