any wireless network adapter recommendations?

Is there any particular reason you need WiFi? If it's a desktop PC, have you considered powerline? For $30, it's often much better than any WiFi solution, though it does depend on the wiring in your house.

I agree with the recommendation of trying powerline adapters, but, if you have to go wireless I suggest TPLINK adapters.
