CPU LED on / No post

Ebenesh

So here's the problem. I had a perfectly working computer and got it shipped to a different location. Now I see that the CPU LED on my P8Z68Vpro is always on and the system refuses to post. What could be the possible problems ?

Bent Pins / not fully seated CPU or a defective CPU.

Though defective CPU are extremely rare-they have to be actually damaged normally.

Actually not necessarily. I just RMA'd a CPU because I believed it to have a defective memory controller. It appeared that it wold corrupt any XMP ram I put in the system. Too much pressure on one side of the CPU can cause something similar. EX all in one liquid coolers can put a lot of pressure on what ever side the tubing inlets are on. Got a new CPU and new ram and kaboom worked good.

I'd just obviously re-seat and check for bent pins first.

Thanks!

I tried to reseat the CPU I found one pin that was slightly off on the side of the tubing of my H100. I did move it back in place but it still seems to be doing the same thing. I tried clearing the CMOS as well and tried different RAM configs and without any RAM. Keeps doing the same thing.

Hey, is there alot of extra tubing? That was my problem. The tubing was putting a lot of pressure on the side of the processor. I turned the CPU block 90 Degrees counter clockwise to take up some of the extra tubing and it took the tension away.

Thanks!
