Also you could try using a different set of mouse/keyboard if you have them and don't plug them into the USB3.0 ports (blue ones) use the USB 2.0 headers. I had problems with Gigabyte boards locking up during POST with some Logitech USB keyboards. Took me forever to figure out that it was getting stuck because of the keyboard.

ok dude, can you post a pic of your ssd/hdd connected to your motherboard,  also can you try and take one of the memory sticks out, and try to boot to the bios or by pressing F8 or F12 (cant remember which) to get you to the boot select screen

How I found my bios menu: I smashed my keyboard until it worked. If you can't find bios, do that. If you know how to find BIOS, but it doesn't work, try to get a new harddrive or SATA cables...

The BIOS has nothing to do with drives. The BIOS is built into the motherboard, you don't need any drives connected to the PC to access it.

Hmmmm... Well this is why I don't build PCs.

also my case didn't come with enough brass standoffs so there are only two with screws and one without a screw. i looked and it doesn't appear to be touching the case anywhere

You mean you have a stand off without a screw in?, have you tried with one stick of ram, take everything out the case and connect only the basics , use your motherboard box to pu your motherboard on, then reseat the CPU ( check for bent pins while your doing this,) then reseat your heatsink ( remember, don't overtighten the screws, connect your power supply, and put in one stick of ram, and plug in your mouse\keyboard and monitor, try going yo bios again, if it doesn't work try with the other stick, do this and report your findings as you do it, have a good look at the CPU pins as well dude, make sure they are all straight

Ok, its looking more and more like you have a dead mobo unfortunately, are you able to flash the bios to the newest version or reflash it if you are on the latest one?, if this doesn't work start the RMA process with your mobo manufacturer

USA

ok here's your BIOS

http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/BIOS/mb_bios_ga-f2a68hm-ds2h_f2c.zip

once you have downloaded that, read the instructions here CAREFULLY,

http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/27576-bios-flashing-how-qflash-guide.html

you will need a USB flash drive,. plug that in then follow the instructions EXACTLY to flash your bios, to ( hopefully) get your computer to load from the flash drive, unplug all other drives (HDD's/SSD'd etc) so the computer should default boot to the only one there ( which will be your flash drive) from there you should be able to update the bios .

If you are not sure what your doing AT ANY POINT then message back BEFORE you do anything, we will guide you through it.. if after that it does not work, you may have to RMA your board as we have almost exhausted your options ATM

it started working all of the sudden but now i can't figure out how to get it to boot the right drive. Tried all but all it does is bring me back to the screen i posted about before. Before the problem was a handshake issue. that was resolved when i moved to a moniter
