Hey Guys I am new to this forum as well as to PC building, but after doing some research I have narrowed down to these components

Motherboard: Asus H170 pro

Cpu : Intel core i5 6500

Graphic Card: MSI GTX 960 2gb

PSU: Antec SMPS VP550PP

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8gb ddr3

Harddisk:WD green 1TB

Cabinet: corsair spec 3

I was hoping to get the following issues sorted

1. Are all the components completely compatible with the motherboard and one another?

2. does the PSU have wattage to support the build?

3. Are There better components available for the same price point?

H170 uses DDR4 memory, so you need DDR4, not DDR3.

Thanks G27Racer_188, dodged a bullet there, I was just assuming it was compatible

No problem.  What's your budget and where are you located, that way we can pick specific parts for you.

I am from india actually and now that I am searching for it ddr5 RAM is actually pretty expensive( like i could get 16gb of ddr3 for that price) so I am thinking ablut downgrading thw motherboard from H170-pro to an H170-plus, what do you suggest?

Is Haswell cheaper? Might want to consider that if you want to save cash and don't need the features of Skylake.

I think you meant DDR4.

Thats the thing, there is not a great difference in terms of price in 4th gen and 6th gen core processors, actually 4690 is $15 more than 6500, though I think the motherboards with LGA1150 must be cheaper right?

Sorry to reply a bit late, I had lunch.

Could you give us a link to a store from which you plan on buying.

The RAM is cheaper, that is one to consider.

woah! thanks a lot for that! I ll just be a noob and ask anyway, any particular disadvantage of AMD graphic cards? I have heard some newer games are better optimized for nvidia cards.

Well, AMD cards usually use more power and produce more heat, but they give really good performance.

I chose GTX 970 because in this case it's much cheaper than AMD R9 390, which has sam performance as GTX 970.

As for the game some are more optimised for AMD, some for nVidia.

EDIT: I suggested you R9 380 which is more powerful than the GTX 960, but less than GTX 970.

would GTX 960 be enough for 1080p gaming or do I really need the 970 because i might be able to squeeze in a monitor or worst case scenario save some $$$.

GTX 960 is "sort of" enough for 1080p, but it does not have good performance for it's price. So that's why I suggested R9 380.

On the othe hand GTX 970 will keep you happy at 1080p for about 3 years.
