Audio Technica AT2020

I used to have it before I went to a cheaper side-grade, the ATR2100. Its actually good for a condenser mic, but since condenser mics are a pain in places that have lots of background noise and sometimes it takes more time than necessary to eliminate background noise without screwing with audio quality.

If you have a quiet enough place or have enough patience to deal with post processing audio, the AT2020 is good.

You could look up the 1000's of user reviews. It is a highly rated mic. Overkill for most so make sure you actually need it before wasting cash. The 2500 is just as good for most people.

PC Audio Setup = Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro 80 ohm and Sennheiser pc37x (also for xbox) hooked up to Schiit Fulla 3

I've worked with Telefunkens, Neumann U87's and clones and even Blue Bottles. I have Shure's, rode NT2A, and much more.

I regret not buying this mic. I bought the MXL 990 because the bass vocal via proximity effect is greater than I've ever seen it on any other mic. I have a 3 octave range but that MXL is fat sounding and helps me tremendously.

The cool thing about this mic is it's extremely faithful, almost too accurate but slightly cold and sterile, and thus its a great mic because you can always add effect in production. If you want a mic that sounds EXACTLY like that which you have given it... this is it.

In fact I just ordered a stereo pair lol.

I tested these mics at a guitar center and loved them. What's also cool is that when you are layering vocals the midrange doesn't get too wooly with these. For 100 bux this is the best mic one can buy. I sang into this and an mxl 990 for nearly 20 mins with everything frorm power tenor to bass and even counter tenor stuff.

The blue spark is also a great mic at 150. There's a great shootout on youtube where it spanks a neumann.

Buy this mic. Now.
