So I am looking to build an SSD array in RAID 0. The basic idea is to RAID two SSD's for now and in six months to expand the array to 4 SSD's. I would like to try this experiment with 64 Gb SSD's. So when finished it will have 240 Gb storage with four SSD's in RAID 0.

I would like to see if its cheaper and performance better then ASUS RAID Express and OCZ Revo Drive's

Design:

PCI-E 2.0 X4

SATA III (Gbps) with four ports

Must have a RAID Controller (maybe even SSD enhanced RAID controller)

So far I have found two RAID controllers, what are you thought on

Highpoints RocketRAID 2710

StarTech 4-Port PCIe SATA III (6Gbps) PCIe x4

Also need recommendations for 64Gb SSD with high performance in RAID 0.

Are you looking for actual performance or benchmark performance?

It would most likely not be as cheap as you can get revo drives quite cheaply already: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227951

A single higher-tiered sata ssd already performs as well or outperforms the pci-e ssds for all intensive purposes.

You could just get a single 250GB Samsung 840 and probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NHAEXE/?tag=pcpapi-20

I am trying to create a storage solution for my current project that not only meets my needs but blows them into the future. Since the original idea was to create a design that can be scaled from 2 drives to 4, the cost is not really the issue. ( doesn't mean I am going to go out and buy a $400 Raid card either)

I have read allot about those revo drives. They seem to be plagued with issues. The newer version seems to be working really well and also are bootable. But the cost of the newer models are through the roof. Seems to me that PCI-E SSD is the future but no companies are will to drop the price for the masses.

By just using an 840 over the SATA III lane wont really get the full use of the SATA III. I want to see reads and writes of 1.2Gbs+. The Revo drives also falls short of the 1Gbs mark also. Only way to get near that mark is four SSD's in RAID 0.

I hope your not doing it for faster boot time, it will be slower then just one SSD because of the RAID card BIOS.

Not for Boot time. Main use for the storage array would be for gaming, benching and maybe some editing if I get any better at making videos for modding. I am sure single SSD would meet my needs but making my own PCIe SSD, well I guess you can understand I love to mod.

Here's a fun mod: Mount an ssd to a case fan.
