Powerline vs. Wireless

Go to solution Solved by Kherm,

I have a problem. Basically, my router is downstairs and on the other side of the house from where my room is. This is a problem for me, especially when I'm playing games, whether it's on a console or my PC. My speeds are pretty fast, even from the far distance, but they are also extremely inconsistent. Sometimes, the internet will randomly stop working in this side of the house, whereas the other side of the house works fine. So, what should I do about this problem?

I have 2 options:

1) Get a Powerline Adapter with a wireless access point & ethernet port for my PC and everything else that uses wifi on my side of the house.

2) Get a wireless adapter for my PC.

I'd love to get an access point, but that really isn't favorable for me since it would be extremely difficult to hide any wiring that connected to the access point.

Note: Yes, I still live with my parents. I'm 16, don't judge.

I would go for the Powerline route because I feel stupid knowing that exists, a few months after I ran a 100 ft Ethernet cable (And I can't be arsed to pull it out, and get a Powerline adapter) from my PC upstairs through a hole in the floor to the basement, behind a bunch of stuff and eventually to the router.
