I emailed my ISP recently (BT) complaining about my upload speeds they are much slower than what they should be and I was out the house today so they left a message, and they told me i'd need to ring back because they need an interactive troubleshooting call... what on my end could be harming my upload speed's I've tested my speeds with no other devices connected just that my computer, one Chrome tab open, connected via Ethernet and a friend a couple miles away from me with a smaller not as powerful exchange has got a faster upload speed than me.

So my questions are: Why would I need to ring them back whatt could they possibly do to fix it?. (not much of a phone guy)
and
Is there anything on my computer what would be taking much upload speed?

Also my upload is 0.38 (yeah I know to many of you that's terrible) and my friends is about 0.80 (that mbps by the way)

Are you running copper cables? Or fiber? It also depends on your distance from the exchange if you have copper cables.

I've pretty close to it, much, much closer than my friend, and copper, fibers not in my area yet </3

Edit: I'm about 300m from the exchange and he's not sure but definitely longer than that.

Can you attatch an image of your modem stats? If you are getting sync rates of over 8mbits down, then you are definitly not on ADSL, most probably ADSL2+.

See if you can find your line attenuation as well, then we might be able to see what factors are affecting your speed.
