Should World Community Grid be using the GPU?

Go to solution Solved by Glenwing,

I recently downloaded BOINC and am contributing to World Community Grid. It is only using CPU right now, but would it be better to use a GPU? I know World Community Grid can use GPU, but is it just using CPU because of the current task, or is there some setting I should enable for it to use the GPU? I have a Radeon HD 5870 if that's supported.

I don't mind using the CPU, want to switch it to the GPU if its better though.

WCG doesn't really use the GPU. Add GPUGRID to your BOINC projects if you want to contribute GPU time to something.

WCG currently doesn't use GPU. In the past, there were subprojects that made use of them. And in the future, new ones might show up.

Right now, though, GPU isn't supported. Personally, I like using PrimeGrid (and in particular, PPS Sieve) for my slow GPUs. That project has always been compatible with ANYTHING I'd throw at it, it could be a g105m, Radeon 4350, Gtx 970; it just doesn't care, it simply RUNS.
