Wndws 8 - Screen wont shutoff

Hey guys,

 

just started having this problem last night.

 

my screen wont shutoff after my predetermined amount of time (3 min)

 

ive set it in power options, advanced power options and in the windows 8 pc settings but still no cigar, like i said this only started happening last night; my monitor was off, then it just turned on by itself without any user interaction (wierd) and now the monitor wont sleep like its supposed to.

 

i read somewhere that it might be because of the mouse giving signals even when not in use but the fact that it worked before makes me think that might not be it, either way, i have a logitech g502 Proteus core for reference

 

any help i can get would be appreciated because the light of the monitor is annoying when im trying to sleep but i cant turn off my computer cuz MSGV:TPP is downloading yay for free games from nvidia

Do it where you can shut off the screen via Windows after 3 minutes or is that what you meant?

the screen should automatically shutoff after 3 min but it isnt, im wondering how to fix it

Have you tried to call to maker of your PC (if it is a pre built) or the makers of you screen?

no, i just built this PC myself less than 3 weeks ago, here are my specs:

 

Mobo: msi z97s sli krait edition

 

Cpu: intel i7 4790K

 

Gpu: Asus strix gtx 970

 

RAM: 16 GB (2x8) kingston Fury Black HyperX

 

PSU: EVGA SuperNova 650GS

 

again, my mouse is a logitech g502 proteus core

 

and my monitor is a BenQ G2255

 

ive been using it for a few weeks but this only started happening last night
