Posted August 10, 2013 For the first time I've tried to play with overclocking memory and wanted too see if what I've done is right. Firstly I have 8GB (2x4) DDR3 Corsair LP 1600Mhz 1.35v. So far I have achieved 1866Mhz at 1.387V These are the results in a benchmark: 1866 9-10-9-28 1600 9-9-9-24 Are these results worth the extra overclock and voltage? Thanks! Posted August 10, 2013 You probably wont notice a difference but for the voltage increase, thats nothing, my ram is running at 1.65v with a haswell cpu so dont worry about thaat tiny voltage, hell you could go more if you felt like it but its not worth the time Hey there. You are looking mighty fine today, have my virtual cookie! :ph34r:MY RIG: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/34911-my-setup-gold-ghetto-gg-lots-of-pictures/#entry446883 Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/44539-memory-overclocking-opinions/#findComment-584176 Share on other sites
 Posted August 11, 2013 Yeah, your voltages are fine and your RAM doesn't need much voltage for overclocking, which is good. Since you are using Ivy Bridge, you are fine up to 1.575v, (according to Intel) however if you want to push it to the max 1.65v stable* should also be fine. As Theo says however, overclocking RAM has an minimal difference, and will mean nothing in gaming, and is more important for things such as small improvements in video rendering speed, etc. (according to myself and general statistics, note that 1.65v is OUT of Intel Spec and intel will not replace provide support for burnt CPUs caused by a stressed integrated memory controller) Main PC: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/FNsFVY Secondary PC: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/7sv7xY Former Intel Response Squad Member, May Class.
