I'm building a computer and was wondering what to look for in a mother board when shopping for gaming.

If you have suggestions please make sure it's ATX

Thank you!

If you're buying from a reputable manufacturer then any motherboard will probably do what you need from it. What you need to do is sit down and write out a list of the features you need on your motherboard, then a list of features you'd like.

Then you start with the actual work part, and start scrolling through motherboard spec sheets seeing what lines up with your list.

Then see how much over budget you went with your choice.

I am new to this as well but the general rule (if you're on a budget!) is to look for one that fits your CPU, CPU Cooler, Ram, and GPU nicely (as in no clearance issues)

Go for ATX if you're going to SLI otherwise just go for Micro ATX mobo's to save money.

Just make sure the board has enough SATAIII and ram slots for your needs. If you're going to SLI/Crossfire then be sure it supports that. :)

Gaming motherboards have weird marketing terms and I suggest you veer away from them... they will fool you!
