Drivers like that don't really need to be updated at all, you can do it from Device Manager, and make sure everything in Display Adapters is up to date

but you never ever really update CPU drivers

There's no such thing as CPU drivers.

OP: What Intel HD Graphics version do you have?

explain while these are here.

Those are not drivers. That shows all logical CPU threads, it has nothing to do with drivers. If you're so sure CPU drivers exist, I'll create a poll and we'll see who's correct.

your aware that there are memory modules on the motherboard that we can't access that contain the driver information

What do you think all the little modules do?

Its theoretically plug n' play because if the motherboard didn't have these drivers (depending on your chipset)

those are the drivers, Notice any difference between X99 and Z97 that isn't just a number and a letter?

A quick tip: just because an idea is popular on a tech forum doesn't mean it's correct. Sometimes the opposite.

The CPU (and the chipset) are part of the platform. Things not part of the platform are peripherals, and they are what need drivers. Windows may have a bit of software it uses to read the name of the CPU and display it in Device Manager, but it is not a "driver" in the technical sense of the word.

This is a derail. The OP is asking about drivers for his integrated Intel graphics, not the CPU itself. Intel HD graphics, even though they're built into the CPU die, do have traditional drivers. I believe this is the one the OP is after: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25235

If that's wrong, you could try the update utility to automatically detect what driver you need.

"This document provides information about Intel’s graphics driver for:

  • Intel® Pentium® Processor N3700"

I have a Celron N2840.

Sorry, I had clicked the N2840 on an earlier document and that's where it took me. Intel's site provides a lot of driver packages for entire generations of processors without exhaustively listing them all, so it's not immediately clear which is the right one for the N2840.

I'd just give the driver update utility a shot.

I get this error:

Oh, how I hate laptops. I guess you'll need to get your drivers directly from Lenovo:

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-s-series-laptops/s21e-20

I'm noticing 10.18.10.3958 is the most recent version available for Windows 8.1, though.

That's what my current video card driver is. :(
