G sync question.

So I have decided its time to upgrade my screen as I have been playing on a 32 inch sony bravia. I am looking at two models.

 

BenQ XL2420G @ 620 AUD

Currently I am playing mostly older games and am really into cs go, its actually want prompted me to look at a new screen. I am torn, while the XL2420G most likely has much better colors etc its the Gsync that has me looking at it. While the cheaper one... is well, cheaper and also a 144hz monitor.

 

I am not looking at going up in res this time, I have tired 1440p and would rather 144hz over that. So the 1080 keeps it a realistic screen for a single graphic card user... currently have a 970.

 

One of the questions I have is, does Gsync stop being useful at higher fps say 120+ as some of the reviews of the tech in general say its made for 40 to 80 fps range and higher fps show smaller improvements. Games like Crysis and GTA I will be realistically playing at around 60 fps anyway and in all honesty do not mind v-sync, it is only in counter strike I need it off.

 

A lot of people say Gsync is not worth it in csgo because it increases input lag, but after looking around if you limit your frames to 120 it only increases it a few ms above having nothing enabled (v-sync/gsync), while running at 144hz it seemed to double it... not sure if this was just a monitor but.

 

Looking for someone in the know to guide me. Is gsync worth it when aiminig for 120+ frames?
