Guys,

Could someone please shed some light on this as I'm lost!

Ok, so I have a galaxy S3 that had a 32gb micro SD in it to put my music and photos on primarily. When I was on holiday recently I think the phone spazzed out in my pocket (it was around the time the android security patch came out a month or so ago) whereby I think it did a hard reset and was re-downloading my apps.

I just happened to get it out of my pocket mid way through this and I was like WTF SHTAPP!

Later that day I wanted to listen to some of my music, and all of a sudden it was all gone! T_T

When I eventually got home I plugged my phone in to my pc. Guess what, no SD storage showing. Tried my SD card reader, didn't recognise it.

Am I now in the possession of a bricked micro SD card? Is this a natural fluke (I've heard somewhere that micro SD's can be a bit unstable) or was it some kind of virus (I've done my own hard reset since then)?

I'm also a bit curious as to why my phone decided to download a butt ton of apps in my pocket without my intervention!

Has anyone else had a similar experience with a micro SD?

Thx

JBro

I've had a micro SD 64gb card fail in a go pro before although it did get stuck in the camera so it was more of a hardware issue than software. It is possible that it did fail as it does happen. Not familiar with android however I don't think a virus of any sort would be able to cause hardware damage, not that I'm familiar with.

I had a Kingston MicroSD card up and die on me.

The whole MicroSD card market is kind of a gray area; there are lots of low-quality cards out there, and lots of fakes.  I'd say the best way to ensure quality is to buy a Sandisk or Samsung card from a reputable seller.

Anyway, that doesn't really explain why your phone decided to factory reset itself.  That doesn't just happen like that...
