so ever since i formatted 1-2 month ago, randomly my network will disconnect then reconnect saying its connected at 1gb.

is it completely random, maybe once every 2-10 days

running windows xp with a Asus a8n32 sli deluxe

is my onboard network dying? does the driver need reinstalling?

i havent done anything yet, mainly want to see what it could be before trying anything

or could it be my switch?

do you have the same problem with an other computer and i atleast would try reinstalling the drivers but i dont think its your switch but i have no way of testing that

If it says it is connected again, it is most probably network cable problem, or, it could be power delivery yo the switch, or, it can be contact on pins with motherboard or switch or input (most likely).

It would be first time i see network disconnecting in that manner caused by drivers, but it is possible.

TO test the switch, see if same things happens on other computers on network, if don't than, probably is cable or connection with cable, change port on switch, or try different cable if you have. Re-install drivers ofc.

Also, you can try to "shake" cable on connections with motherboard and switch and in between (if possible) and see if it lose contact.

hmm ok so no real pin point, kinda what i thought,

im the only pc on the switch, i have a second computer connected to it, but thats off all the time mostly, so i guess i could take out the switch all together, ill reinstall the drivers first and see what happens

what is the "Marvell VCT package"??

they have

"Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet Driver V8.24.3.3 for Windows 2000/XP/2003.(WHQL)"

and

"Marvell VCT package V2.13.1.3 for Windows 2000/XP/2003 & Windows 64bit XP/2003."

i downloaded and installed the first one, just wondering what the VCT is
