Hi guys!

My mate just finished building his new PC, and it is failing to post. Resulting in four beeps, according to the manual, means component hardware failure.

The parts

i7 6700K

Asus ROG Maximus viii hero

G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 8GB

GTX 980 ti 2x in sli

Samsung 850 256gb SSD, 1 TB seagate HDD

Corsair RM series 1000w gold

I am talking to him at the moment, he said just after the power button was pressed it made a loud pop and there was a burning "wire" smell coming from the PC. I honestly have no idea what could be causing the problem, he has tried the PC with no GPU's in, no HDD's, and different ram combinations including running with no ram in the system. Any help would be amazing! thanks guys...

Probably the PSU, hopefully didn't fry the MoBO. The RM series of corsair isn't a high quality psu :/ probably wasn't the best idea to use it with such a high demanding rig although the 1000w are decent I though

If you don't wanna buy one like a cheapey to test you'll need to take most of the stuff to a pc repair shop and they'll test it but charge you like $50
