I have MSI Afterburner and EVGA  precisionX installed.  While playing ark survival evolved i get a reading for my vram usage being over 5 gigs.  Now I'm using a gtx 970 which only has 4 gigs of vram on board.  How is it possible that I am using 5 gigs when I only have 4 gigs installed.  I am using a 4970k on an asus hero vii mobo.

Uhhhhhh... maybe it's using your RAM?

Read the vRAM information guide.

I also know you're on Windows 10.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

THE INFORMATION GUIDES: SLI INFORMATION || vRAM INFORMATION || MOBILE i7 CPU INFORMATION || Maybe more someday

It's reading incorrect most likely. If you were using over 4GB (your card's capacity) your performance would drop to unplayable levels (<10 FPS)

If it's not doing that, then the reading is wrong, or you're misinterpreting something.
