Awesome, thanks Cool Beans

No, just no. I wouldn't pair a 7950 with a cx430. The minimum requirement of the 7950 is a 500w psu. Considering part of the card's appeal is to overclock it, the cx430 would be too risky.

My suggestion: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1ptMo

My friend is looking for help with an AMD build. My motherboard from MSI is DOA, so it is kind of hard to do price comparisons on my HTC One X+.

Requirements

6300/6350

ASUS/Gigabyte boards (970/990FX chipsets)

Atleast 1TB

700+ Watt PSU

Midtower case, and upwards.

I would jump up 100$ for a superior CPU and a nice case:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1puSW

But you can also take an i5-3350P which also beats FX-6300 and is significantly cheaper than Xeon e3.

Or take woodenmarker's build and get doomed by significantly worse CPU performance in games. X)

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

CPU: Phenom II x6 1045t ][ GPU: GeForce 9600GT 512mb DDR3 ][ Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P ][ RAM: 2x4GB Kingston 1333MHz CL9 DDR3 ][ HDD: Western Digital Green 2TB ][ PSU: Chieftec 500AB A ][ Case: No-name without airflow or dust filters Budget saved for an upgrade so far: 2400PLN (600€) - Initial 2800PLN (700€) Upgraded already: CPU

Games aren't that cpu intensive compared to the gpu side.

You pair a z77 mobo with non-overclocking cpus...

Only 4gigs of ram too. 8 is standard in a modern build and the OP never said this was a strictly gaming build.

Games use the GPU. Okay, there is very little work done on the CPU side. So a 6300 is fine. No Fanboyism, please be objective.

Logan is correct. Linus has also said that a 450 Watt PSU can handle a 4770K, and a Titan on the last WAN show. He is correct. For a second GPU you will want a 750Watt PSU.  Not too mention Vavle isn't using insane 1200Watt power supplies for Steam  Boxes.

FX 6300 vs Xeon is no contest. But the Xeon is 100 dollars more expensive and it's all about GPU? Also only DDr3-1333 4GB RAM. You would need 8.

I'm pretty sure that's not actually Logan. Like other members, he just uses a profile picture of an internet celebrity.

Also, a 450w psu can support a 4770k and Titan if it is high enough quality but we're talking about a cx430 here. It's not just about wattage--there's also amperage, the spikes from a 7950 oc and just the delivery of the psu itself.
