I've built a new pc and it wont post, when I push the on button or short the connectors its still dead.

The psu im using is the corsair cx 600m, I dont think it has a "0 db" feature, so the system fan should be spinning regardless, right?

Even if the cpu is dead, my system fans should be running if im not mistaken.

What can i do to find out what component is failing?

(I've built 2 systems before)

Did you flip the thing on the back of the power supply

Did you put the power button FP connector on backwards

Would it be too much of a hassle to grab a PSU from one of those other computers, or are you not with them anymore?  Then you could see if the PSU really is the issue.

I REALLY dont want to do that, i was hoping somone could confirm my theory regarding the fan spinning

If hes tried shorting the connectors then the orientation of the front panel connectors shouldn't mean anything really.  You might be able to short those two pins on the 24-pin to try to run a fan off the power supply without the motherboard (kinda like they do when filling a water cooling system).  That's the easiest thing I can think of.

Will the system fans/ cpu fans run without a processor? In that case i have located the problem to 2 areas, the psu or the mobo

I'm not sure how that's dealt with because I'm not the techiest of people, but when people fill water cooling loops (and test them) they use a special adapter for the 24-pin plug on the PSU to trick it into thinking it's on and allowing the pump to well, pump, without having the risk of a leak shorting out components (as the system would technically still be off)

Not my picture, just googled to get a picture of the adapter so I could show him what I was talking about.

Ok, guys. I have solved the problem. I shorted the wrong pins. I looked up the pins in the manual that came with the moterboard, but they had listed wrong pins or something. Because when i shorted some random pins on the other side of the " place where front panel connectors go" it suddenly booted. They must have sendt me the wrong manual

You should mark this thread as solved.

It's not a race to the bottom.
