So I purchased a Linksys SE1500 network switch yesterday and got it all hooked up with Cat 5e cables. Port one connects tp the wall, port 2 and 3 to computers and port 4 and 5 are empty. Both computers say they connect to the internet, but said connection is very slow and it seems to be selective. I was skype chatting with no issues, but Spotify says there is no internet and Firefox will only connect to certian websites, even then at insanely low speeds. I had one of these computers plugged into the wall ethernet before i got the switch and was getting over 10 mbps down via speedtest. Now i can't even connect to speedtest. Help?

Can you run the following tests:

ping google.com 50 times - "ping -n 50 google.com" in command prompt

Ping your default gateway 50 times - "ping -n 50 <IP address of default gateway>" in command prompt

Run 4 speedtests, 2 to the default server, and two to a different city that is still pretty close to you

Run these tests in each of these setups:

1. Single computer connected to wallport

2. Switch connected to wallport and single computer connected to switch

3. Switch connected to wallport and both computers connected to switch (need only test from one computer)

You should end up with 6 ping test results and 12 speedtest results. Report the summary of both, so for ping tests show us the %lost, min, max, and avg, and for speedtests the up speed and down speed (ping shown in speedtest.net is not so important). Make sure there is nothing downloading in the background, not even an open but idle torrent program. They can keep lots of open connections.

Edit: I realize you will probably have problems with speedtest.net when using the switch, but try anyway please, especially with just one comuter connected.

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:
