Hi all

I am looking at doing a college project to build and use kali Linux to test network security as well as building the virtual test network.

I am thinking of install it on a dell PowerEdge R910 4u Server in a cluster as my college has 3 that I can use.

It had 4 Zeon E7-2800 CPU 100GB Ram and ten 500gb SSD's in RAID 0 for speed

as I don't care about it falling over

Does anyone know if this or any server is compatible with kali?

and also would I be able to get the full power from the hardware

A college friend successfully hacked my Server 2003 machine over the internet. By hack, he managed to get an administrator command prompt using metasploit and an open RDP port. The tools on Kali can get into any version of Windows if used correctly.

It's completely blown out of proportion. Also if you're the least bit worried about data gathering then you should go live in a cave a 1000Km from the nearest establishment simply because every device and every entity gathers information these days. In the current era privacy is just fallacy and nothing more.

My main question was will kali linux function as well on Server Hardware as it does on desktops,Laptops.

As i dont want to take the Servers if it will not work on their hardware. As i have never seen it  done on YouTube but I think it will
