Can't Decide

Go to solution Solved by Guest Strangerbob,

That's the issue I have essentially. "immersion vs compatibility" as it were. Something else I've been looking at is just something with a higher refresh rate. Having only experienced 1080p @ 60hz though, I'm not really sure which direction to go. Right now I'm really torn between the 34" LG ultrawide (2560x1080) or the new BenQ 1440p 144hz affair.

It might be a good idea to sample one of those options before buying something yea?

The 21:9 one with freesync will be lightyears more enjoyable gaming than anything 16:9. Theres a reason people who have played on 21:9 say  "21:9 > all "

I currently have two IPS monitors. A 23.8" main and 21" secondary. I've been looking to upgrade one or both. I'm not sure if I should go with a 2560x1080 ultrawide such as the LG 34UM67 or one of the 29" versions. Or regular 2560x1440 such as the Asus PB258Q. I'm a bit leary of compatibility for both resolutions/aspects. (IE- programs and media for 1440p / and game compatibility for ultrawide). Any thoughts or suggestions? Right now I think I'm really leaning toward the ultra wide so I can reclaim some of the space my current monitors and arm take up.'

-Thanks

Having only experienced 1080p it's hard to tell which road to take. I'd kinda like to go for the Ultrawide. But, it's still 1080p in a way. Then the 1440p has a bit more pixels and better compatibility with games.

Any recommendations for 1440p monitors? I'm really looking to spend less than $600us.

Once you game on 21:9 you`ll understand why some people say "21:9 > all".

Its a trip of gaming rediscovery, as if you were 12 again. For that reason alone, the 21:9 monitors are the only ones that matter.

However, if you have not used a 21:9, you are still safe. You can spend 550$ on asus pg279q = a 2560x1440, 144hz IPS and it will be a blast to use.

Not anymore. Sold. Couldnt handle the 60hz and the endless stutter vs tearing.

I need a 21:9 with 100+hz and f/a/g sync at the very minimum, before i spend any actual money on a monitor again. Or if it doesnt have gsync/freesync, it better be at LEAST 144hz, to mitigate the sutter, like the benq xr3501.
