Playback Default Device? Help!

I have a G1. Sniper Z97 motherboard, and an R9 390. I think these are related to my audio problems but I'm not entirely sure. At first no audio would play from my headphones until I set my default device to speakers, but when I don't use speakers I have to manually switch to AMD High Definition Audio to play through my Asus VH242H. The audio is crackly when played through my monitors, is it because of my GPU or my on board sound? I need help. If you need more information, please ask.

Thanks

Alvie
