So I have my cpu stable 4.6GHz for months on windows 8.1 Now after upgrading to windows 10 (upgrade or fresh install) it gives me this same issue.

When I play games example BF4 but other games as well but haven't really tested it fully. After a while I get frame drops but here's the interesting thing. My whole pc will lag and I'm on teamspeak with my clan mates and even the sound will lag from game and teamspeak. It's like something is unstable but I doubt it or windows 10 is more sensitive. Seeing as I've been running 4.6GHz for months with no issue playing the most intensive games and so on I don't see how my cpu can be unstable now right after upgrading windows 10.

I actually had issues with my ram once. Think I have a bad memory controller meaning it doesn't handle anything above 1600mhz that good. I checked event viewer and I don't see any errors or anything weird. Next time I get the issue what i will try is by first running my memory at 1600mhz. I don't see much benefit. If I still get it I will try running cpu at stock speed.

So what can it be?

My specs:

i7-4790k @ 4.6ghz

16GB ddr3 2400mhz

Club3d AMD r9 280x crossfire (15.7.1 drivers) Not overclocked

Qnix qx2710 2560x1440 @ 96hz

128GB Samsung evo 840 with latest firmaware

Latest windows updates installed

Corsair ax850w

This only happens after gaming for a while and also not always

I've noticed that Win 10 doesn't like my GPU's (albeit factory) OC. Went back to normal 'gaming mode' clocks and things went back to normal.

No issues with my CPU's OC, however

What issue do you get when using  factory overclocked settings? Explain a bit. Does your game crash or does it also lag for 1-5sec and then back to normal?

This has more so to do with new overhead methods.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

please explain a bit more. What do you mean?

It is the way all versions of Windows have ever worked.  Until Drivers mature, overclocking is generally a bad idea. You'll need to tone it down.

Slight artefacting, that's mostly all

Not the same then. i get fps drop for 1-5 sec. Actually for that time my whole pc will be lagging but then goes back to normal and only when playing games. I can watch movies, browsing the web do pretty much anything else except after playing games for a while I get this but not every time playing games. Someone on an other forums suggested me by removing 15.7.1 and installing driver version 1046.2 from windows update. I think once I get the issue again first reverting my memory to 1600mhz and if I still get that revert cpu overclock. If it still happens I will install that driver. If I still get the issue then I don't know what it could be. But I'm going to start testing again. I just have to wait for it to happen again as I bumped my CPU core voltage up a bit last night.

oh ok. Now I understand. So it works differently on windows 10 than windows 8.1?

Yea, and it is only a slight change.  Usually in how approximations work.  Which according to your previous post, artifacting is usually caused by approximations.

Ok but this doesn't solve my issue

The solution is either do a clean install of the OS to determine if something just didn't happen right, or down clock your components back to stock.
