Ram mismatching

Go to solution Solved by QueenDemetria,

So I decided to upgrade from an i5 to an i7 recently and I inherited some ram from my dad. Apparently he had a spare 8gb ddr3 stick and I decided should I use my 2x4gb ddr3 ram with my 1x8gb ddr3 ram?

Patriot viper black mamba v3 9-9-9-24 2x8gb

1.5v

1600mhz

Kingston hyperx blu 2x4gb

1.65v

1600mhz

9-9-9-??

It should be fine, mismatched RAM plays pretty nicely since most of the kinks have been worked out, but there is still a chance for failure. It cant hurt to try it :)
