So I received a call from a family member telling me that they couldn't sign into their PC after they upgraded to windows 10. They said that they had to change their outlook password and in the process they must have changed it to something else and not realized what they changed it to. Recovering the password didn't work and we're running out of options. If all else fails I'm thinking of trying to brute force my way in, but I really know nothing about the process. If anyone could recommend some software and explain how to use it that would help a ton.

You can reset the password with a modified utilman.exe. (replace it with a renamed cmd.exe)

You can find a tutorial here: https://www.technibble.com/bypass-windows-logons-utilman/

It works in Windows 10 too, since Micosoft doen't see it as a security flaw.

Just make sure to backup your original utilman.exe before replacing it, so you can restore it after reseting the password.

Just don't mess with the cmd you start with that trick, since it runs with SYSTEM privileges.
