Do you guys get motion sickness when playing games? For example, I was playing Hitman Absolution earlier today and was really caught up with the level that I made extremely sharp turns with my mouse. I ended up being nauseous and had to lay in bed for 2 hours. The symptoms were worse when I played Doom 3 as a kid. Maybe I just have to slowly build up my tolerance?

I've heard of this and and know some people who suffer from this.

- Try increasing the FOV (Field of View) to at least 85 (an average person has about a 110 degree FOV). I like mine at 90 even though I don't get motion sick from games but it's more comfortable for me. Also, I believe Doom 3 has a fairly low FOV to give a tunnel vision feel. Turning the FOV up is the most important step in helping motion sickness in games.

- Try keeping the frame rate around 60 by lowing settings. I don't know if that would help but it is smoother and usually more life-like.

- Sitting farther helps as well. That's how games like MW2 got away with a 60 FOV because most console gamers are about 10 feet from their TV so getting motion sickness from the low FOV is more unlikely.

I hope that helps.

Thanks! The video lead to a series of other videos on FoV which were all very informative. I just wish developers included a FoV option for all the games they port to the PC.

- Adjust the screen resolution and brightness

- Try to adjust the controller sensitivity so you don't make any sharp turns. (I know this might effect your gameplay)

- Try to sit back farther back from the TV (might be uncomfortable for awhile)

- Turn on the lights, make sure where your playing is well lit

- Try to change the camera angle (might be uncomfortable but you'll get use to it)

- Turn off "motion blur" if it's on (Motion Blur is lame anyways)

- Take breaks, have some fresh air, rehydrate yourself, go outside

The only thing I get from games is rage. Extreme rage, I suck so bad at battlefield 3 it's not even funny. That and I literally shit my pants when I played amnesia. Seriously though, you shouldn't be getting motion sickness from games normally, unless you have motion blur turned all the way up.
