So I have a pair of sr80e's and I can very much hear the popping and cackling from my onboard audio when doing something intensive like video editing :D. It will need to be a dac and not a sound card since I have intentions of using it on a laptop as well as desktop.

Sorry, Mod can change category, I just considered DACs peripherals.

Digital Analogue Converters are more of an audiophile subject so I wouldn't consider them peripherals. I consider mice/keyboards/mousepads - really anything you hold with your hands while gaming to be a peripheral :)
