Defective m.2?

Go to solution Solved by Fredrikmikael,

Could be wrong but I thought I heard that you can only install Windows on an M.2 drive with a bootable USB, not an install CD/DVD. Worth a shot in my opinion.

And I assume boot is only for boot order, UEFI and that craps.

What kind of drivers does the PC's site includes? Maybe it needs a controller driver to be loaded before installation

i finally got it working, just needed a BIOS update...

Thanks for your time :)

Hello!

I am trying to install windows 8 on a new m.2 SSD. when i have put in the new m.2 SSD i can see it in the BIOS but if i boot from a CD (windows 8 installation / cloning software) it can't seem to find it. i am wondering if the new ssd might be defective or if there is a secret trick, bios setting or something else i can try.

it's a Crucial MX200 500GB SATA M.2 Type 2280SS SSD

Any help is greatly appreciated! :P

EDIT: in the Windows installtion setup i have tried "SHIFT + F10" and typed Diskpart -> List disk But i get the Message There are no fixed disks to show.

Damn, how exactly do you configure a drive in there? Does it allow you to choose a single drive in "advanced" tab?

This is a signature.
