Deciding whether or not to get the swiftech h220x... Mixed reviews everywhere and not many reviews tbh. I know digital storm uses it for the bolt series. Any thoughts? You guys know have one?

Thanks!

I'd personally stay away from them and go for a kit from EKWB or XSPC if you plan to expand it. The units are good but they have a QC issue it seems since a lot of users either have problems out of the box or short way down the road with them.

OP I know many people with it using it as a dedicated GPU loop and it works perfectly, keeps my friends 980 Ti SLI below 40c while gaming @ 1.274v

PEWDIEPIE DONT CROSS THAT BRIDGE

To be honest, the idea of expandable AIOs doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I get the value proposition and the 'maybe i'll expand in the future' argument, but making the choice right away and going with a custom kit will probably not be much more expensive and it won't have the limitations the h220-x has (awkard reservoir, odd radiator that you can't replace fully) and if you are not gonna expand, there are many AIOs in the market that would be more than enough for a given chip. So, if you wanna expand, i'd say go ahead with a custom loop, it will end up being much easier, and if you don't, get something that wasn't made for expansion, since those characteristics are not necesarily good all the time (more powerful (noisy) pump, detachable (more likely to detach) tubing, etc)

thanks, do you mind helping me out with picking some parts? Just for cpu for now.

Alrigthanks, do you mind helping me out with picking some parts? Just for cpu for now.

I can try but take it with a grain of salt, i haven't done a custom loop myself.

This pump has been recomended by Linus over and over

http://www.swiftech.com/mcp655.aspx

This is the one Jayztwocents is using, it's a D5 pump too but also a rez

http://www.performance-pcs.com/ek-xres-100-d5-pwm-incl-pump.html

Not sure what rad you want, i would go for a thick 280mm if it's only the CPU so you have room to expand

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/16825/ex-rad-426/Alphacool_NexXxoS_UT60_Full_Copper_Dual_140mm_Radiator.html?tl=g30c95s930

Basically the most popular CPU block, and highly recomended by everyone

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/16253/ex-blc-1134/EK_Supremacy_EVO_Universal_CPU_Liquid_Cooling_Block_-_Acetal_Nickel_CSQ_EK-Supremacy_EVO_-_AcetalNickel_Original_CSQ.html?tl=g30c325s1118

I don't know enough about fittings, tubing or reservoirs to give advice, rather be honest than a bullshitter :P

It is possible that all i just said means nothing because it makes more sense to buy a kit in your case (figured that out late...)

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/25102/ex-wat-324/Alphacool_NexXxoS_Cool_Answer_240_D5XT_-_Complete_Kit.html?tl=g30c83s137#blank

I like that one from alphacool because of the D5 pump, the rad and excellent fans

http://www.performance-pcs.com/ek-kit-l240-r2-0-watercooling-kit.html

This other kit also includes great fans, a fantastic waterblock and a more compatible (thinner) rad.

Finally, again, i'm no expert, so, i would start a new thread about watercooling kits, and let people recomend, criticize each other and give you somewhat of a consensus, that's the best way of using this forums, opinions backed by a single person are not good enough, maybe someone else will point out something i recomended it's no good for X reason, and that's great, but open a new thread specifically for choosing a WC kit, watercoolers are the nicest, less biased and most rational people in this forum for what i've observed, no dickhead typing 'AMD sucks donkey dick' and leaving...sighs. Anyway, open that other thread, and let them come, there are very experienced people here, what i know is mostly curiosity and osmosis, but no real experience, so ask the guys that have done a custom loop. Good Luck!

Thanks so much man! Have to check out those parts when I get home. I'll check out some threads when I can. Again thanks!
