I have no idea what's causing this, but my computer does what I call "half freezing."  Let me explain.  I can still use my most of programs when this happens, but the clock in the task bar freezes, trying to view things in my task bar comes up with a black box, nothing but a transparent blue outlined box appears when I press the start button, and when I try to access My Computer (or any other system files folder), everything is black inside the window.  My computer does this at least twice a day and I have no idea what causes it. Can anybody help?

Next time it happens use Ctrl+Alt+Del to open the Task Manager, kill Explorer.exe in the Processes tab, then use File > Run and launch explorer.exe again, may be something messing with the Explorer process which handles the taskbar and file explorer. If it is that, do a thorough virus scan and make sure your graphics drivers are updated.
