Evo or Liquid?
Hey everyone!
So im building this .. thing, and this is what I got so far. The only thing i'm conflicted about is how comfortable I feel with the temperatures if I use a Hyper Evo 212. I havent OC'd before but I really want to try and get maximum stable performance. I heard this case is a little tough on air flow so I want to keep it as cool as possible. Will the evo suffice if I want to go like 4.5+ or should I do something along the lines of a H100i GTX? If it is just a few degree difference, I'm not bothered by it but If I should see a significant change in temp/performance I think I would do an aio and return the evo. I'm not TOO concerned about noise levels. The only reason I didn't go straight for the AIO is because i heard that sometimes there can be leaks and their lifespan isnt as long as fans. Are these horror myths true? Much appreciated for your input!
(will be used in Southern California)

Well, you are comparing a mid-end air cooler to dual rad AIOs, if you got a dual tower heatsink such the CRYORIG R1, the Noctua NH-D15, the Thermalright Silver Arrow Extreme or a Phanteks PH-TC14PE, you would get performance very near a dual rad, and actually better than some 240mm AIOs like the H100i GTX. Now, if you wanna get an AIO, for maximum performance you should get a 280mm rad like the X61, the H110i GT or the cooler master Nepton 240M. A thick 240mm is a good compromise between the 2, like the corsair H105, but the annoying phrase 'you get what you pay for' tends to be true with CPU coolers, so comparing a 30$ cooler to a 100$ one is not very useful. If you are considering a 240/280mm AIO, your air cooler options should be in that bracket, performance and price wise. Right now the best air cooler you can get is probably the NH-D15, the Cryorig R1 ultimate or maybe the Silver arrow, and those tend to outperform 240mm rads and stay very close to 280mm ones.
Also, a 4790K is a hot CPU but not the highest tier when it comes to TDP, not like you're dealing with a 9590, so a 240mm rad or a big heatsink should be plenty.
