I have an old Dell All in One PC which I do like and use very often. (I am posting from my laptop now which is sort of secondary, but far better). I have been having a lot of unexpected shutdowns and unless a remedy for that is known, I want to do some upgrades.

Given that its an all in one I know that my options are limited but I would like to know if a new motherboard with integrated graphics, better CPU, RAM etc is possible. Even if its newer laptop hardware it would be enough to keep me happy. (Internet browsing YouTube and Spotify mainly). Maybe at end of year I can build a cool new tower and get a sweet monitor to go with it, but Im getting a new car right now and want to spend money on that.

But I think I can afford an SSD RAM CPU and a motherboard and Windows 8 or 10 for this thing, if I can maintain usage of the AIO"s interface (USB ports, Audio Out [i dont use the aio speakers] and the Blu Ray drive]

What I want to know I guess if that its even possible to swap the motherboard and drives,  and get a mini or micro ITX or laptop motherboard back in.

OR what I need to look for inside  (Im a novice with computer hardware) as far as getting the usb ports, blu ray drive, on screen controls, etc to work with new hardware if these things arent just all hardwired in (probably, maybe?)

Finding info on these All in ones is hard cause they weren't popular I guess. all I know is when it was built (7+ years ago) it used decent laptop hardware. I would love to boot on an SSD and possibly have an HDD for storage. Im not too worried about heat because it'll never see intense loads, but I dont want to interfere with what little airflow it has now.

This is my first post in my first forum so thanks to anybody that'll read/respond - Cory

I got an aio, and as far as I know, it's practically impossible to open it up, and reseal it.

I have opened it up and blown it out with compressed air, it isnt like an iMac. Im just not sure how components are connected. Maybe they are inaccessible, I dont know.

Could try an external hard drive hub and see if you can get an ssd to fit in one.
