I'm new here so sorry if this is in the wrong section. Recently my headset shorted in the jack that plugs into the amp. I bought another cheap 4 conductor male cord to use as a replacement to the one which was shorted out. I cut one end off each wire hoping to be able to splice the two ends together but the two ends are not identical and I am not sure how I would wire the two ends together. Any help would be much appreciated. 

 
Also the copper wire on the left side of the picture has an insulated white wire inside of it.

Those cables look pretty tiny, my guess is that even if you repair it it will soon break again. Maybe you are better off with a new one
