Microphone Problem "Not Plugged In"

Ok so I shut down one night and windows had some updates. I came on the next day and then my mic wasn't working. I checked audio devices and it said that it's "not plugged in". I tried plugging it out and in again and still the same problem. I untangled all the wires just in case and still nothing happened. Someone please help.

Couple of quick tips. Try reinstalling the audio driver. Check to be sure the port itself is not dead. You do this by trying other mics. More then likely the windows update messed with the driver it happens to me a lot.
